About me

Seattle acclaimed oboist, teacher, and arranger MinhThi (MIN-TEE) Butler is a founding member of the Ilinx woodwind quintet. Ilinx is known for its diverse programming and international collaborations with living composers. Ilinx regularly performs classical woodwind repertoire such as August Klughardt’s Quintett, while also exploring more contemporary pieces, such as Marc Mellits’ Apollo. Ilinx often performs at the University of Washington's concert series Allen Library’s First Wednesday Concerts, where they have performed Butler’s arrangement of Florence Price’s Adoration.

Butler holds the principal oboe position in the Leonore Chamber Orchestra and Orquesta Northwest’s Ballard Civic Orchestra. She is completing her Bachelor of Music degree in Oboe Performance at the University of Washington with Professor Dan Williams. She plays principal oboe for the University of Washington’s premiere ensembles.

Butler possesses a strong background in music education. She is experienced in coaching elementary, middle, and high school students and currently maintains a private oboe studio in the Seattle area. As an avid reed maker, Butler enjoys being able to provide her students with high quality, reliable oboe reeds.

At fifteen years old, Butler won the Grays Harbor (Washington) College Concerto Competition.

When she isn’t practicing, Butler loves to paint, cook, read, write, and craft!.
